The Day Has Come

Nope, not that day.  I wish!

Just the first day of school.  I was surprised by how not nervous I was.  I had surprisingly few nightmares about the first day of school,  and my new class is darling so far.  A few talkers, but lots of really cute ones too.  However, I miss my old class from last year.  I saw some of the in the hall this morning, and it kind of made my heart hurt a little.

I think it will be a good two weeks.  I'm excited to get to know these kids as well as I can before I leave them for six weeks on my maternity leave.  Hopefully they'll be so cute, I'll be excited to come back too!

Oh, yeah. I had a birthday!

I figured since my birthday got an entire post on Katie's blog, that I'd better at least mention it here. I don't know about you, but when I've had 28 other birthdays in my lifetime, number 29 doesn't seem all that exciting. Just older.

That said, we did get to get together with all of Jeremy's family, and then with all of my family. Plus, I got some great presents including some cute new photo albums and two new pairs of made-to-order pajama pants.

And Jeremy finally took me out on a birthday date a few nights ago. (Only a month and a half after my actual birthday on June 8th.) Steak at Sizzler and watching the "enthusiasts" who were all dressed up to see Harry Potter. Oh, and we saw The Hangover which was expectedly hillariously offensive.

And the good thing about being old, is that sometimes instead of a present, you get some of this:

Which we put to good use purchasing this for the basement:

I guess financial responsibility is another thing that comes with getting older, because really I would have rather bought this:

Another time, another time.  Happy birthday to me!

Revenge is Mine

You know what will irritate a pregnant lady in a hurry?

Taking the last of her Rolaids and not buying more. Even more than that, taking the last of her Rolaids and not even telling her, so that she is out of precious said medication at 3:00 in the morning.

Grrr.

It's okay. I ate the rest of his Oreos for breakfast. And I'm not buying more.

What can I say? I may just be an "eye for an eye" kind of gal.

Too Much Fun!

Know what swimming lessons three times a week,

a fun weekend at Cherry Hill,

and a backyard swimming pool get you?

Give up?

An earache, a trip to InstaCare, and a double ear infection.

However, she will also now swim without goggles, went on the big kid slides with Jeremy, got to spend time with her cousins, and both she and I have great tans!

I Heart my Family

A few of my favorite people:

My mom Heidi, sister Stacey, me, sister Whitney, and Hayley-kins.

It's not often to get us all together in the same picture, all smiling (or almost smiling... Mom!), so I thought I'd document it here.

And, a little bit of an update, for those of you who know my fam:

My mom got a new job at the West Valley Family Fitness Center in the Day Care. This is perfect because she can now tend Hayley for a day during the week, and even if she is working, she can take Hayley (and the new baby soon) with her to work with no charge to her or me.

Stacey and Matt just bought their first house a few months ago. It's less than a mile away from ours, which I couldn't be happier about. Maybe now some of her mad home decorating skills can make their way over to my house too!

Whitney is doing well at SLCC, but currently taking the summer off. She works part time, but spends lots of time painting. She is truly amazing - I'll have to take some pics and post them. It's obvious that she and Stacey got all the artsy/crafty genes in the family.

And Hayley. Of course, never one to disappoint, here's her latest:

Hayley has shown that she is just as indecisive as her parents. When given a choice between two things, her current responses include: "Well, both are good..." and "Well, both are nice..."

And she' s been at it again with the renaming of her little brother. If you ask her what his name is, you will probably get more than you bargained for. Lately he is Jackson-Drake-Cupcake-Banana-Oatmeal-Bachman. She has told multiple people this, including strangers. And she is totally serious.

Need a Laugh?

So, Tawnya posted about things that make her laugh, and wanted others to post what makes them laugh. The following immediately came to mind.

The other day, Hayley had been up in her room, too quiet for too long. I yelled up to her, "Hayley, what are you doing?"
"I'm just getting ready for my dance lessons." (She doesn't take dance yet.)
"I have underwear on my head." (What?!)
Sure enough, she came down in this:

And proceeded to do the funniest little dance I'd ever seen.

I swear, she gives new meaning to the phrase, "Never a dull moment."
P.S. Suzanne, this may have been what she was plotting in her July 4th picture. I wouldn't be surprised.

The One and Only...

...photo that I have from the Fourth of July.

Because helping a three-year-old with a sparkler and taking pictures of the occasion don't mix. But we had a great time at the at the BBQ! Thanks Kimi!
